"The Passion of Martin" is Alexander Payne's thesis film, completed while he was attending UCLA.  It premiered at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival, gaining national attention.

The film follows a 30-year old photographer, Martin, who obsesses a girl whom he catches admiring his work.
